KUSADASI /BIRD’S ISLAND/ is a small port, built around the shores of a picturesque bay. It has a very favorable situation, offering ideal possibilities for holidays and entertainment.
EPHESUS – built around 1000 years B.C. by Ankolos, son of Kodros, king of Athens. All preserved old buildings- temples, baths, the stadium and the theatre are from Roman times. While wondering among these ancient buildings, people can hear sounds echoing from centuries ago. Herakleitos, Alexander the Great, Cleopatra, the Poet Kallinos and Virgin Mary had lived here.
The House of Virgin Mary, where it is supposed that she had lived the last years of her life, is situated nearby.
BODRUM is situated to the south of Kusadasi. In the ancient times it was known as Halikarnassus. One of the seven wonders of the ancient world – the Tomb of King Mausolus, was built here. The town is also known for the Crusader castle of St. Peter, now turned into a Museum of Underwater archeology.
PAMUKKKALE is a natural wonder of mineral – rich water, famous all over the world with its therapeutic and restorative benefits. The waters come from the ground at 35 degrees Celsius and run over the travertines created by centuries of natural activity. The ancient town of Hierapolis was situated here. The ruins of the town include the octagonal church of St. Philip, an extensive necropolis and former baths.
